The Business Communicator of the Year Award recognises the CEO of a FTSE 100 company who has used public relations most effectively for the benefit of their organisation since the start of the year.  Previous winners of this prestigious award have included Stuart Rose of Marks & Spencer and Stelios Haji-Ioannou of easyGroup.
The shortlist for the Business Communicator of the Year was created by leading media intelligence company Cision. Cision used its industry leading Impact Score and Net Effect methodology to rank the national media profile of each FTSE 100 CEO. The top 10 scoring CEOs (above) are submitted to a panel of judges who will make the final decision as to which CEO has been the most effective communicator of 2007.

Richard Houghton, chairman of the PRCA, said: “Communications has never been more important for listed companies. A strong vision, clearly communicated builds confidence in a CEO and their ability to lead. Several of these CEOs have faced particularly challenging circumstances this year and the fact they are on this list is testament to how they have used communications.”

Giselle Bodie, Cision Consultancy Services Director, said: “The Business Communicator of the Year Award underlines the intricate relationship between a CEO’s communication efforts and corporate reputation. Furthermore, it demonstrates that analysing the impact of media coverage should be an inherent part of reputation management for any organisation.”

The Business Communicator of the Year Award will be presented on 20 November at the PRCA Award ceremony in Central London.
